When placing your order for photo patches, you will be asked whether you prefer a merrowed edge or a laser cut edge. Understanding the difference between these two options is crucial to ensure that you receive the patch that matches your vision.

Merrowed Edge:

A merrowed edge is the industry standard for photo patches. This distinctive edge is what makes a patch recognizable as such. A merrowed edge is created with a stitch that wraps around from the front to the back of the patch, giving the edge a slightly raised effect. This type of edge is most suitable for simple shapes like circles, ovals, squares, rectangles, or even triangles. We offer merrowed edges with a thickness of 1/8 inch, which may not be the ideal choice for extra small patches that require a finer, more delicate finish.

Laser Cut Edge:

While it's not the default choice for most orders, the laser cut edge remains an important option among our edge selections. Using an ultrasonic cutter, we can precisely cut non-traditional shapes that would be impossible with a merrowed edge. Additionally, this style is often more suitable for smaller woven patches, where the merrowed edge might appear bulky and out of place.

Photo Patches and Versions

Add versatility to your sublimated patch by including different versions. A 'version' refers to subtle alterations in your design, such as color adjustments or minor text modifications, like custom names. It's important to understand that major alterations, including changes in the patch's shape or size, are not considered 'versions' and require separate orders. For each version modification, a standard charge of $25 applies.

Unlike our woven and embroidered patches, which are limited to 8 thread colors, our photo patches can feature as many colors as you desire. We utilize specialty ink in our photo patches to guarantee that your sublimation print will never bleed or fade over time, ensuring that your artwork remains as vibrant as the day it was printed.

Photo Patch Backing Options

Choosing the right backing for your project can be overwhelming due to the variety of options available. Here's a simplified guide to five popular backing choices:

• - Plastic Backing: Included in our base pricing, this standard option is ideal for patches meant to be sewn onto fabrics.
• - Iron-On Backing: A favored choice for easy application. Use a heat press or iron to activate the glue on the patch's back, bonding it to your garment. Iron-on patches are not as enduring as sewn ones but can withstand several washes and attach permanently.
• - Peel & Stick Backing: Great for simplifying the sewing process. Just peel off the paper layer, place the patch on the fabric, and sew. It's a time-saver, eliminating the need for double-sided tape. This versatile backing also allows temporary attachment, transforming patches into unique embroidered stickers.
• - Hook & Loop Backing: Long popular among military, law enforcement, and firefighters, this backing is gaining widespread appeal for its versatility.
• Hook Side Only: Includes only the hook side (the rough part) securely sewn onto the patch. This ensures a strong attachment without detachment during frequent use. Ideal if you already have the loop side (the soft part).
• Hook and Loop (Both Sides): Comes with both hook and loop sides. The hook side is securely attached to the patch, and you also receive the loop side, pre-cut to fit the patch. Sew the loop side onto your chosen item, then attach the patch with the hook backing.
